Back From The Death Zone - Abandoned

Shooting was underway on Everest, Producer Virginia Wright was half way up the Khumbu Valley heading for Base Camp, and a full crew was due in a few days later when the April 25th 7.9 earthquake struck. the film had to be abandoned….thank god for insurance!

UPDATE - Back From The Death Zone

Finally got out of Lukla at the bottom of the Kumbu Valley and lucky enough to get a flight straight back to NZ from Kathmandu. Scottie is still shooting at Everest Base Camp as Guy cleans up after the tragic earthquake/avalanche. Production on Back From the Death Zone has stopped.

The feature documentary Back From The Death Zone has successfully applied for funding from the New Zealand On Air, New Zealand Film commission Joint Documentary Fund. Due to be shot largely on Mount Everest next year, Producer Virginia Wright is currently in Cannes to find the remaining $150,000 of the $900,000 budget.

Filming with Vets Beyond Borders in India

Veronica has spent the last three weeks in the remote Ladakh region of India, along with director Bill de Friez she is documenting the work of Vet’s Beyond Borders working to control the severe stray dog problem that plagues the region.

For many years a population of more than 5000 stray dogs has been terrorising the local community. These animals are well fed during the short tourist summer season, but when it comes to winter they turn into packs of starving predators, attacking livestock and people alike.

Where the Faults Lie a Great Success

The first episode of Aftermath has been broadcast, 'Where the Faults Lie' was broadcast on Prime on the 24th of February.

Currently the programme is available on demand to all Sky subscribers on isky and it will be replayed on Prime later this year.

Keep checking in for updates - four more episodes currently are currently in production to be screened in the second half of 2013.

Kowi to screen at Sydney Festival

‘Kowi – A Korean Kiwi story’ has been selected as part of the 2012 Cinema on the Park festival in Sydney.

Kowi, directed by Mary Jo Tohill and produced by our own Veronica McCarthy will screen as one of five in the Korean short film evening on the 29th of November at the Korean Cultural Office. We’re thrilled to have Kowi’s Australian premier as part of this wonderful event.
